Ingredients

  • 100g sesame seeds
  • 50g margarine
  • 200g sugar
  • Sesame seeds, to coat (toasted)

Directions

1. Dry fry the sesame seeds in a non-stick frying pan until they just begin to turn golden (stir constantly and shake the pan often to prevent burning).

2. Once done, put the sesame seeds into a bowl and set aside to cool.

3. Melt the margarine in a heavy-bottomed pan then stir in the sugar.

4. Continue heating, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to caramelize.

5. Take off the heat, pour in the sesame seeds and stir to mix thoroughly.

6. Pour the mixture into a flat-bottomed baking pan and spread out.

7. As the mixture begins to cool shape into sticks, either by cutting or rolling.

8. Coat these sticks with more sesame seeds then set aside to cool completely.

9 .Store in an air-tight tin.
